Schriffert Mihály Exposition – sculptor and wood craftsman
Carving wood inherited it from his grandfather. In 1975 was retired having a lot of spare time to his disposal he sought of the old tools of his ancestor and began to create. First created little objects and furniture, then moved towards objects of cults, religious and crosses for graves. In the years that followed led a circle of handicrafts dealing and creating wooden objects that have been presented and displayed at various exhibitions in Hungary such as: Tokaj, Tata, Mezohegyes, Sződliget, Kecskemét, Budapest, Nyíregyháza, Debrecen, Békéscsaba and Székesfehérvár. Abroad he has exhibited in countries like Austria, Slovakia, Romania, Italy, Germany, Serbia, France, USA and Canada. The town of Gyula dedicated him a plaque in honor of the hard work and artistic life. The title of “People’s Artisan” was awarded to him in 1994, and in 2001 was elected an honorary citizen of Gyula.
