Szanazug holiday centre
Szanazug is at the confluence of the White and the Black Cris. A popular place for lovers of hiking and water: on both sides there are swimming areas with free entrance, where the water is clear and low. Those wishing to take a bath can come here even for an afternoon or remain for several days. They have the possibility to be bedded in specially designed wooden houses. Besides the baths, guests can choose to go pedal boat, kayak, canoe boat, boat or can pass from one shore to the other by ferry.
Szanazug, one of the oldest inhabited regions in Bekes County is located in the administrative area Doboz. In the mentioned region Scythian artifacts were found, avaricious and in the early days of the settlement of the Hungarians in this region - the already mentioned Dobos and surrounding area, in 1075 - as well as remains of settlements and churches. In those days, the village Szanna was somewhere at the confluence of the White and Black Cris Rivers, where the two rivers came together somewhere downstream of Bekes. Between 1855-1857, under the plans Bodoky hydrologist engineer Károly Gyula, expert on regularization Cris, was dug a channel 20 km long route-Szanazug Gyula, Bekes, which led to a significant reduction of flooding danger to the affected areas. On the sides of this extended area resulting from the closure of water, the channel was turned into a varied recreation area, becoming a paradise for fishermen and those who love excursions on the water.
