Food and drink

Our multireligious and multiethnic community has always been proud of its traditions, as well as of its local cuisine and traditional products. Gyulai sausages have gained world fame for their heritage and the expertise and dedication they are prepared with. The Gyulai Pálinkamanufaktúra, which continues the 300-year-old tradition of local brandy-making, and the Cadeau Bonbon Manufaktúra, which makes exquisite sweets, have received a number of national and international awards. In addition to all this, Gyula has a wide array of restaurants, cafés, bars, boasts a brandy distillery, two microbreweries, and hosts gastronomic festivals. The city also takes pride in its confectionaries, especially the The Hundred-Year-Old Confectionery, which has been operating since 1840 and is the second oldest in Hungary.
