Five kilometres from Gyula, in the direction of Sarkad, you will find a recreation area, Városerdő, on the left bank of the Black Körös River. Its natural sandy beach is a favourite destination for swimmers, sunbathers and fishing enthusiasts during the summer months. Kayaks, canoes and pedal boats are available for rent. The so-called "forest school" offers the opportunity to get acquainted with the rich flora and fauna by guiding hikers through the paths of its surrounding forests.
