This statue bears the following inscription: 'Károly Bodoki, engineer 1814-1868. This statue was erected on the 200th anniversary of the birth of Károly Bodoki, who played an important role in the regulation of Körös and Berettyó rivers in 2014, by the Körös-Region Water Management Directorate, the Municipality of Gyula and the sponsors.’ It was created by Géza Széri-Varga and it can be seen in Megyeház Street.Bodoki did not only make a name for himself because of his contribution to the regulation of the rivers, but also because of his involvement in matters affecting Gyula.
