The old Calvinist church in Gyulavári, built in 1787, was demolished. The existing church was built on the same site in 1892, during the pastorate of József Bay, the father of renowned physicist Zoltán Bay. The church was designed by Mihály Székely from Békéscsaba and built by József Vágner from Békéscsaba and Antal M. Szabados from Gyula. The memoirs of József Bay can be viewed in the tower of the church.
